OsTemplate Update

OS templates for BlueOnyx are available for Aventurin{e} clients via yum. It can be installed with “yum install ostemplate-blueonyx” on the Aventurin{e} master node. Or do a “yum search ostemplate” to see what is available.

OS templates for BlueOnyx on generic OpenVZ and/or Virtuozzo can be downloaded here. Just download one of the *.tar.gz files, place them in /vz/template/cache/ of your Aventurin{e} or OpenVZ node to be able to create VPS's of that type. Do not unpack the *.tar.gz files.

If you regularly build VM's using these templates, it can be time consuming to do all of the yum update steps again and again. The instructions below will allow you to build a customer ostemplate that has all of the latest operating system yum updates included in the template.

  1. Create a VPS using your desired base flavour of BlueOnyx.
  2. Ener the VPS with vzctl
  3. yum update
  4. Stop the VPS
  5. Delete files in /var/cache/yum/ and /usr/sausalito/codb/
  6. Make a tarball of your new image, and put it in /vz/template/cache/
